Project management and business analysis are in fact two disciplines that are becoming more and more strategic for many companies. Project management focuses on the creation of the “product, service, or result” of the project in order to meet its objectives. Business analysis aims at understanding the needs of the business stakeholders and at defining the characteristics of the solution to meeting those needs. Through the integration of these two disciplines, organizations can achieve superior project performance, both from the standpoint of the realization of project deliverables and from the creation of business value.
Business analysis is simply the process of understanding business needs, roadblocks, requirements, and objectives, and communicating that information into action, while serving as the liaison between technical teams and business leadership. Project management is the collection of tools, techniques, and procedures that organizations utilize to help manage the immense complexities involved in delivering services and building products. These two competencies are critical for success as it helps ensure teams understand the why as much they’re concerned with the how.
